Site Updates: May 2026

Hello everyone!

It’s the end of May and I don’t know about you, but it’s been a busy month. Plenty of doctor’s visits, end of school year related activities, and work, work, work. Yeesh! It’s officially summer break for my daughters now (lucky them!), but I’ll continue to work. Isn’t adulting swell?

In Unico-related news, I’ve been excited to see all the new merchandise coming out. I haven’t been able to collect much of it, but I have picked up a few things these past few months. I’m waiting on a few magazines to ship from Japan that have Unico articles from the 80s I’d love to add to the site. Shout out to Anime Magazine Archive for making my search for Unico in anime magazines a lot easier. Really great website if you’re searching for specific anime articles in older magazines.

You may be surprised to learn I worked a little on the Merchandise Museum this month. I spent some time updating the Figure page as quite a few figures have come out these past several months. Went to add two figures then realized I forgot this one and that one. Oops! Gotta catch up!

Anyway, check out the updates below and I’ll see you next month!

– Added a blurb from the February 1980 issue of The Anime where Director Toshio Hirata discusses the production process for the first film. It’ll be on the Articles and Interviews page.

– Added Unico: Jagad, the Swedish edition of Unico: Hunted to the Unico: Hunted Publications page. The book will be released on June 18, 2026.

– Added Unico in Gefahr, the German edition of Unico: Lost to the Unico: Lost Publications page. The book will be released on October 7, 2026.

– Updated the Korean Language page with some more information. Added to the VHS releases, as well as a section for the streaming version. While the streaming services do not have the original Korean dubs, you’re able to watch the film in Japanese (and maybe English?). I’m not entirely sure about the day the films began streaming, so if anyone knows, definitely shoot me a message!

– Added the Unico Figure Collection by Kenelephant to the Unico Gashapon / Capsule Figure page.

– Added the Kenelephant Soft Vinyl Collection Figure to the Figure page.

– Added Chang Chang Figures to the Figure page.

– Added Hiroyuki Tsumezuka Figures to the Figure page.

– Added Nanago Tsukimi Unico and Leo Garage Kit to the Figure page.

– Added Studio So-Ta Unico Flocking Mascots to the Figure page. This figure was announced this month and is currently open for preorder and will be shipped late September.
