Site Updates: June 2025

Hello, hello!

As we say farewell to June, we say hello to July and also to the Canada/US release of Unico: Hunted, the second volume in the new series by Samuel Sattin and Gurihiru. Of course, other language versions will follow, but if you’ve preordered the book, will pick it up later, or already have it, I hope you enjoy Unico’s latest adventure!

Now, going back to site updates… It was a crazy month for me, so the updates on the site may be a bit scarce. Between birthdays, Father’s Day, and my youngest daughter having to be hospitalized, I’ve been pretty busy, to say the least. All updates I made were in between events going on over here, but hopefully you’ll find some interesting additions. I had to scramble toward the end of the month to add a handful of Merchandise Museum updates, since I know many of you look forward to those. Also finished a spotlight post this month that some may find interesting. It took me longer because I had to do a bit of research and translating here and there.

And thank you to all who have taken part in the poll on the site! This again helps me with focusing on specific content. Next month will be a lot of Unico: Hunted related additions and maaaaaaaybe Unico: Lost? Maaaaaaybe? Guess it depends on what information becomes available. We’ll see!

My Unico Fans will also celebrate its 4th year hanging out on the internet next month, which is pretty crazy. What started out as something fun to do has turned in to so much more, and it’s been an amazing adventure. I hope I can create a fun post to celebrate!

– Added Osamu Tezuka Vintage Artworks Manga Edition to the Other Publications page.

– Added ユニコ: 目覚めのおはなし / Unico: Mezame no ohanashi, the Japanese edition of the Unico: Awakening Kickstarter book to the Unico: Awakening Related Publications. Will update when the trade paperbacks are released in Japan.

– Added pages for the Canadian and UK versions of Unico: Hunted to the Unico: Hunted Publications Page. I know they all share the same ISBN, but I try to provide at least links and pricing. The UK version has been out since June 5 (lucky!).

– Updated some text to the Unico Black Cloud and White Feather page involving the first Osamu Tezuka Fan Convention which showed the short. Added a link to an article about the event for those curious about what went on. It’s in Japanese, but if your browser has a “translate page” button near the address bar, you can read it. If you don’t have that, DeepL is also great for translating.

– Added a new roundtable discussion translation for the Articles and Interviews section. It is from an issue of Lyrica magazine and is titled Hello Tezuka-sensei!! The roundtable discussion features Roko Maeda (Patty & Jimmy), Yuko Shimizu (Hello Kitty), Yukari Ishii (Bunny & Matty), and Osamu Tezuka. Tezuka shares some fun Unico information.

– Tweaked the Unico Links section a bit. The collectors/fan sites weren’t in a table, and it bugged me. Haha! I do hope to add more to the section as well.

– Updated and reorganized the Thai Language page to include the physical manga as well. Previously, I only had the newer e-book versions, but the original books came out in the early 90s. Hope to find these books one day as I love other language versions.

– Tezuka Moderno Unico Earrings added to the Clothing Accessories page.
– Unico Iron on/Sticker Patches added to the Clothing Accessories page after the Unico earrings.
– 1984 My Unico Pencil Sharpener added to the Pencils, Pens, Stamps page.
– 1984 Hand-tear Pencil Eraser added the Pencils, Pens, Stamps page.
