Hello Unico fans!
Hope you are all doing well! There was quite a few Unico events and merchandise popping up this month, which is exciting. If you’re in Japan, hopefully you’re able to pick up something for yourself or someone you care about.
Similar to last month, I’ve been working on several areas of the site. I wanted to work on more character pages, but it got a little busy near the end of the month for me. Let’s see what I can accomplish next month! I need to spend a day just scanning and editing photos. Oof!
We’re only a few months away from Unico: Lost being released, and I’m certainly seeing a growing number of visitors looking for more information about the third volume. The further we get into the series, the more exciting it is to see where Unico ends up.

Tezuka! God of Manga will be a feature-length documentary by Jason Andrew Cohn and features interviews from Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira), Go Nagai (Devilman), Toshiyuki Tomino (Gundam), Naoki Urasawa (Monster), Paul Pope (THB), Samuel Sattin (Unico: Awakening), and many more! Tezuka! God of Manga Kickstarter
– Have added anchor links on various pages. These make it easier to jump to specific areas on a page. For example, the First Grader synopsis page was one long table filled with information, and you had to scroll and scroll to get to certain years. Now you can simply click on a year and it’ll jump you to that section. I’m hoping this will be helpful, and I’ll continue to implement this feature on other pages.
– Added Toast to the Scholastic character page.
– Added Esuo to the First Grader character page. Will add his image shortly.
– Added Unico: Lov, the Slovak edition of Unico: Hunted to the Unico: Hunted Publication page.
– Updated Sphinx’s name to Bamoria on the Scholastic Manga Character page. Also added General Selak to Unico: Lost. When the book is released, I’ll create the other character pages and update the images.
– Updated the English-language version page. Created separate pages for the Beta and VHS tapes, and DVD and Blu-rays to separate things out and hopefully make it easier to find information; added and updated images for the VHS tapes; and created anchor links to jump to specific areas within the page. All blurbs were added, and other information was updated. Original prices for the DVDs and Blu-ray have been added as well. Information about why the pilot Unico: Black Cloud and White Feather wasn’t dubbed has been added after receiving an email asking about it.
– The First Grader chapter synopses page is now complete. Hooray! All chapters from 1980 to 1984 have their synopses up. The page now also has each year in its own section, replacing the previous long table. You can now click on links near the top of the page to jump to specific years, saving you from endless scrolling.
– Added Unico’s introduction from the 1980 July issue of Sanrio Gift World to the Articles and Interviews page.
– Added blurb from the March 1982 issue of Animedia magazine to the Articles and Interviews page. While I have the cover for the February 1983 issue up, the translation will be added next month.
– Updated the Scholastic Graphix Unico Publications page with images of each book. It was only text before. Also updated the Publications link in the menu to direct to this page. It was only directing to the Unico: Awakening publications.
