Site Updates: July 2025

It’s the end of July!

Were you able to pick up a copy of Unico: Hunted? I found it very exciting and enjoyed it immensely. Although I have had little time to write more about the new volume, I plan to do so next month. I’ve already done a review, but I’d like to focus on other elements I think fans might enjoy. Being able to discuss the original and new Unico manga together is quite fun.

Oh! I also saw the Unico goodies online from this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. If you attended SDCC, I hope you could pick them up (two pins and a lanyard); they’re adorable! If you’re like me and missed out on them, they were made by What’s Your Passion Jewelry, and available for purchase from their website along with all kinds of other cute pins and more under the “SDCC Release” tab. These are official products, and I don’t know how long they’ll be available. I’ve gotta pick some up for myself too!

Now, on to site-related updates! With school starting in a few weeks, I’ve been running around trying to get everything organized, so I apologize for not having more updates. I’m also editing and writing a few projects, which have kept me a little busier this month as well. So much to do!

Anyway! I hope you’ll still enjoy what’s been updated and see you next month!

– Added more Unico: Hunted character pages for the Scholastic Manga Characters page now that it’s officially out. You’ll find Halian, Iver, and Starrow. I’ll continue to update their pages as we learn more about the characters.

– Edited the Unico Manga (2024) page to show it’ll be an eight-book series as it was previously a four-book series. If this information is incorrect, I’ll fix it, but I’m pretty sure with how the story is growing that it will have no choice but to be longer. Haha! Also, fixed a few grammatical errors because no matter how many times you edit, something squeaks by.

– Added Steenz’s mini-comic of Unico to the Other Unico-Related Publications page. This was available from the Unico: Awakening Kickstarter and wish more people got to see it.

– Added Unico: La Caza to the Unico: Hunted Related Publications page. This is the Spanish edition of Unico: Hunted released this month!

– Also added Unico: La Traque to the Unico: Hunted Related Publications page. This is the French edition of Unico: Hunted, going to be released October 1, 2025.

– Unico: Braccato was also added to the Unico: Hunted Related Publications page. This is the Italian edition of Unico: Hunted, going to be released September 19, 2025.

– Added A Love Song for You Ryoko Moriyama (1981) album to the Unico Soundtracks page. It’s Unico related because Ryoko Moriyama originally wrote and sang the “Do Re Mi Fa Lullaby” and it’s what director Moribi Murano found and wanted to use for the film. Emiko Shiratori would sing the version you hear in Unico in the Island of Magic. You can listen to the track on various music platforms. I’ve linked to the one on YouTubeMusic.

– Added 1990/2000s Tezuka Character Mascot by Banpresto to the Unico Plush.

– Added 80s Sanrio Unico Lesson Bag to the Unico Bags page. It’ll be the flat blue looking bag.

– Added the Pumila Studio Pinoko Kit to the Figures page. This kit went on sale during this month’s Wonder Festival 2025 in Japan. While it’s more of a Pinoko figure, she’s holding a Unico stuffed animal and thought fans would like to see it. It’s a beautiful figure.

– Also added the new Jiro Model kit featuring Unico as it was also sold during the Wonder Festival 2025. He’ll be after the Chao kit, and he’s super cute!
