It’s been another year, and the website is still going. A lot has happened in these couple of years, and it’s been fun! I’m happy to see Unico still getting the love he deserves from fans around the world. And speaking of fans, you are all amazing, and I’m always happy to hear from you. I also hope the website can still provide information and other things you are looking for. As I’ve mentioned here in the past, I’m not paid to do any of this; it’s been a hobby and personal project of mine to spread more Unico into the world. Hopefully, I can keep updating the site for many years to come.

Since it’s the site’s fourth anniversary, I tried to think of something Unico-related to share. Earlier in the month, I had to reorganize my collection again and thought, you know, maybe some may find it fun to get a peek at what I actually have. This site has several pictures I’ve either photographed or scanned because I actually own the item, but it’s a little comical how I have to keep things organized and stored. Unlike collectors who have dedicated spaces for their collections, I’m sort of lacking that at the moment. Since I don’t want my items to be damaged by anything, I unfortunately have to keep them in containers.

I don’t think there’s a way for me to actually show my full collection. I’m also not trying to compete with anyone out there seeing these photos because I’m happy for those who can happily collect and preserve Unico items they enjoy. This is just a series of photos of me organizing and rearranging my collection so that nothing gets damaged. Only a handful of figures and books get to hang out on my bookshelves and desk.

The rest are in boxes like the picture featured on the left. I neatly stacked the boxes in the closet to keep kitty intruders out. As you can tell, not everything has found a proper place, so I wanted to fix that.

At one point, my entire collection fit into that white container, but that’s not possible anymore. There are several items that simply can’t be stored together, like Laserdiscs, posters, mugs, books, etc. For this update, I needed to separate the soft items like shirts, stuffed animals, towels, and handkerchiefs to their own container.

Again, I feel kind of bad everything has to stay hidden away, but it’s the only way to protect it all until I have the space to showcase it. I definitely enjoy seeing how others show their collections, though! My goal is to one day have a room for all my silly collectibles, books and art stuff. It’d be my artsy geek room, I guess? Yeah, that’d be cool.

As I mentioned above, the goal was to move soft goods to their own container, and here’s what it looked like. Don’t the stuffed animals look like they’re being added to a time capsule of some sort? While I only have a handful of plushies, there’s been quite a few Unico-related released. If you’re curious to see what else they had, definitely check out the Unico plushie page. Plushies are super popular, so I hope they put out more soon.

Here’s a handful of shirts I put into the container. A few of these shirts are on the site, and I need to add the others. I wore out the Ravex shirt with Unico on the front because the shirt is black and I don’t wear a lot of other colors. (Laughs.) Now I have the cool shirt from the Unico: Awakening Kickstarter to strut around in.

Another reason to reorganize is putting like items together. I could finally place some of my stuffed animal keychains from other boxes with the others. For example, I picked up a Ragon mascot keychain from the Axis collection that can finally be reunited with the plush version. These little guys are very cute. You’ll notice I also keep a lot of items in bags to keep them extra protected.

My research has me picking up all kinds of books and magazines that feature Unico content. Sadly, that means I have stacks of books hanging out on my desk because I don’t have enough bookshelf space. Regardless, I’m glad I bought those books because most contained valuable Unico information. You can find several translations on the Articles and Interviews page.

Below are some 80s stationery goodies I needed to rearrange because I picked up a few more. I think a lot of us older Unico fans have a love for the 70s/80s goods produced by Sanrio and Tezuka Productions. Makes me a little sad in today’s digital age because I enjoyed mailing letters as a kid and loved notebooks, pencils, and so much more.

What do I do with all the smaller items like erasers, badges, keychains, omake, and more? Well, most of them go into a special box for now. Because they’re smaller, they are easy to lose if mixed with larger items. The other day I thought I had thrown out an item when I couldn’t find it among the others. Realized I’d placed it with a handful of unrelated items and felt silly. I try my best to stay organized, but even I misplace things sometimes.

The LaserDiscs and vinyl soundtracks also need their own boxes for obvious reasons. They get to hang out in a sturdy box that doesn’t allow them to shift around. Any CDs, VHS, and cassette tapes are in another box, which is why they’re not pictured below.

The VHDs are the only video media that doesn’t have a proper box because of its odd shape. Same with my animation cels, which I place in a protective portfolio. Posters are also in a specific holder. Calendars get their own box as well. Basically, anything that shouldn’t have weight on it needs its own container or box to ensure it doesn’t get crushed.

I mentioned there were only a few items I display, and you’ll find them on my desk. Of course, these pieces are also the most fragile, so it’s a little silly I put them out. Thankfully, not even the cats seem interested in messing with them, so I guess they’re safe for now. My friend, who makes really cool pottery items when she gets the chance, made the mug with Unico on it. Woody enjoys hanging out there, apparently. (Laughs.)

Here’s a different shot of the same part of my desk. The bigger Unico figure has to hang out on top because he’s pretty big. My daughter thought Gojo would make an amiable companion for Unico, so he’s there as well.

Well, I suppose that was a long enough post with various Unico goodies sprinkled about. I know I couldn’t show everything, and I do apologize if you wanted to see more. That would probably have made this post way too long and cumbersome, though. I think if I were to make posts about my collection, I’d have to break it down by type. If that sounds interesting, please let me know in the comments or shoot me a message. I’ve been slow in updating my Instagram with my recent additions, but that’s usually where I make collection updates.

Anyway, thank you for stopping by the site, checking it out, and hopefully coming back. It’s been a lot of fun so far, and hope that continues into next year!
